China’s Intellectual Property Data for 2021 were Released
According to the press conference of China’s State Council Information Office, by the end of 2021, the number of valid invention patents in China reached 3.6 million.
In 2021, China received 73,000 PCT international patent applications. The China National Intellectual Property Administration, which is also called CNIPA, accomplished the examination of 54,000 patent reexamination cases and 7,100 invalidation cases.
the Invention patents enjoyed the fastest growth in 2021. Among them, three fields saw the fastest growth in terms of the filing number, namely, No 1, the field of information technology management methods, with a year-on-year increase of 100%, No 2, computer technology with a year-on-year growth of 33%, and No 3, medical technology with a year-on-year growth of 29%.
In respect of the trademark registrations, by the end of 2021, the number of valid trademark registrations in China reached 37 million.
In 2021, the Chinese applicants filed 5,928 international trademark registration application through the Madrid System.
in respect of the Geographical Indication:by the end of 2021, China had approved 2,490 geographical indication products, and it also had approved the registration of 6,562 geographical indications as collective or certification trademarks.
In respect of Integrated Circuit Layout Designs, By the end of 2021, a total of 52,000 IC layout designs had been registered in China.
The number of patent and trademark registration in China by foreign applicants increased as well.
In 2021, 110,000 Chinese invention patents were granted to foreign applicants , marking a year-on-year increase of 23%; and the number of trademark registrations, 194,000, marking a year-on-year increase of 5%.
