I. Patents

From January to November 2024, China granted 972,000 invention patents, 1,816,000 utility model patents, and 576,000 design patents.

As of the end of November 2024, China had 5.646 million valid invention patents, including 4.641 million domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong SAR, China, Macao SAR, China, and Taiwan, China). The number of valid utility model patents was 11.632 million, and valid design patents totaled 3.055 million.

From January to November, the China National Intellectual Property Administration received 66,000 PCT international patent applications, including 61,000 submitted by Chinese applicants.

From January to October, Chinese applicants submitted 1,751 international design applications. From January to November, 2,258 international design applications designating China were published.

II. Trademarks

From January to November 2024, China received 6.4 million trademark applications and granted 4.329 million trademark registrations.

As of the end of November 2024, there were 49.424 million valid registered trademarks in China.

From January to November, the China National Intellectual Property Administration received 6,419 Madrid international trademark registration applications from Chinese applicants.

III. Geographical Indications and Integrated Circuit Layout Designs

From January to November 2024, the China National Intellectual Property Administration recognized 36 geographical indication (GI) products, approved 123 registrations of GIs as collective or certification marks, and authorized 7,959 business entities to use GI-specific marks.

As of the end of November 2024, a total of 2,544 GI products had been recognized, 7,400 GIs had been approved as collective or certification marks, and 32,091 business entities had been authorized to use GI-specific marks.

From January to November, China received 10,306 integrated circuit layout design applications, and 9,626 certificates were issued.
